The Hands Up Foundation

Charity description

The Hands Up Foundation logo
Hands Up is a positive, young and innovative charity. It was set up by 4 friends, united by a sense of sadness at the unfolding crisis in Syria. Inspired by our time in Damascus, we want to remind our friends in Syria that they have not been forgotten.
Fundraising started in the kitchen through our Syrian Supper Club with the dual aim of fundraising and reminding people of Syria's food, art and culture. Simultaneously, we wanted to raise awareness of the crisis.

Now a UK registered charity, we raise money and awareness through:
The Syrian Supper Club: Since 2012 we have held 80 suppers and fed over 2,000 people with Syrian-inspired food. Syrian Suppers now happen worldwide.
MarmalAid: a social enterprise inspired by Syria’s bitter oranges. We sell our marmalade, with the profit going to the projects we support.
Singing for Syrians: a nationwide initiative encouraging people to raise money through concerts.

To date we've raised over £3.5 million. Monies raised support carefully chosen projects, run by partner organisations on the ground in and around Syria. We are proudly supporting a project making and fitting prosthetic limbs for Syrians injured in the conflict and funding salaries of a team of medical staff at a field hospital near Aleppo.
