The Friends of Clapham & Patching Churches

Charity description

The Friends of Clapham & Patching Churches logo
The Friends of Clapham & Patching Churches charity was created in 1996 to raise funds to help maintain our two lovely 12th century Downland churches.

The PCC approached the churchwarden of Patching Church, Sir Richard Best, appealing for assistance with the challenge of maintaining the fabric of the two churches which were suffering from reduced congregations and the onslaught of nature - his response was to put together a team of willing residents and to constitute 'The Friends' with the aim: ". . . to beautify and assist in the maintenance of the fabric of the Parish Churches of St. Mary the Virgin, Clapham and St. John the Divine, Patching, and to preserve and protect them as places of Christian worship".Our work is ongoing . . .

Charity No: 1059567
