The Friends of Bridge End Gardens

Charity description

The Friends of Bridge End Gardens logo
We are a small charity committed to preserving and developing Bridge End Garden, a restored Victorian garden in Saffron Walden. With regular volunteering, the Friends work alongside Saffron Walden Town Council to help keep this beautiful Grade II listed garden open and in shape for the local community and many visitors to the town.

The Garden you see today has been transformed to its original Victorian design following major restoration between the years 2003 – 2008. It is made up of enchanting interlinked gardens that include the Dutch Garden with its patterned yew topiary and a magnificent Hedge Maze which never ceases to tease and delight visitors.

Discover our Visitor Centre with its colourful information panels and interactive monitors that opened in October 2015. Tucked away in the Walled Garden, it replaces an old air raid shelter and was the result of 2 years dedicated fundraising. Our thanks to everyone who contributed and made this possible.

Behind the scenes, the Friends continue to work on projects to develop and enhance the Garden. Currently we are updating the signage and information boards, cataloguing archive material and developing a website – as well as weeding!

Please donate to support our projects that help to preserve and add enjoyment to our special garden.
