The Dan Eley Foundation logo
Dan Eley is a young man from Surrey in the UK who was working as a volunteer street child worker in Latin America when a tragic diving accident in the Amazon left him paralysed from the shoulders downwards on New Years Day 2010. Dan spent one year in hospital fighting for his life and overcoming enormous emotional and physical challenges of being so severely paralysed. During his time there he met many people who had overcome extreme adversity to go one and achieve great things in life. This inspired him to pursue his dream of starting apprenticeship-style training schemes for youngsters living in poverty in Colombia.

Through The Dan Eley Foundation (DEF) Dan and his trustees fundraise for apprenticeship and 'back to work' schemes working with local partners in the UK and our excellent a partner charity in Colombia, FEDUT. As well as supporting youngsters from slums in South America the foundation supports youngsters from deprived of dysfunctional backgrounds locally in the UK. Dan hopes his story will inspire youngsters to overcome extreme adversity, empowering them and helping them develop the skills they need to be self sufficient. To date our programmes have supported over 600 youngsters living in trouble circumstances both in the UK and Colombia.
