The Charlotte Straker Project
Charity description

Our charity, The Charlotte Straker Trust, relies on donations to provide 5-star residential, nursing and respite care to the elderly frail in Northumberland.
Our charity provides 5-star residential, nursing and respite care to the elderly frail in Northumberland.
Our ethos is to accept residents even if they cannot afford to contribute fully towards the cost of their care. An inability to pay is not a bar to entry.
We are launching a fundraising appeal for a new community Respite Care Bed service.
Since the loss of our GP beds in 2014, we have listened to the local community who have told us that respite care is becoming increasingly difficult to access in Tynedale and more beds are desperately needed.
Our fundraising campaign aims to provide one free of charge respite care bed for the community for three years, and we plan to start the service in January 2017.
A respite care bed costs £40,000 per year to provide. Therefore we need to raise £120,000 for three years.
