The Broomhouse Centre

Charity description

The Broomhouse Centre logo
The Broomhouse Centre in Edinburgh provides personal, social and community development opportunities for some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach groups to help tackle poverty and disadvantage and to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and the community.

We can make a huge difference to the lives of the people we work with.
· Children’s and young people’s attendance at school improves, through our Young Carers’ project, our Youth Befriending project and our Youth Counselling Service
· Our services for children and young people all lead to improved self-confidence, self-esteem and relationships with friends, family, teachers and the community in general
· Carers, young and old, get a break, support and companionship
· Older people find it easier to remain in their own homes and feel less isolated
· Older people with dementia attend our safe, caring and stimulating Beacon Club day-service
· People who are furthest from employment get training in our Community Café. The Café is used as a café facility for people from the local and wider communities and is a much-needed service for the people who would otherwise be susceptible to loneliness and isolation. For many, it provides an incentive to become more active and sociable.
