Charity description

The Broomfield House Trust logo
Many of us have fond memories of times spent at Broomfield House in the past. We recall the museum exhibits, the Lanscroon murals, and enjoying tea with our friends at the café. Sadly, others have only seen the House enclosed in scaffolding, as it has remained since it was destroyed by fires over 30 years ago.

Finding the substantial capital required to restore the House in the current economic climate is not an easy task. Enfield Council, together with members of The Broomfield House Trust and Friends of Broomfield Park are now trying to secure financial support from commercial sources to restore the House and Stable Yard  hopefully for community use and enjoyment.

In order to be sustainable and ensure free access, we need to identify activities with long term income earning potential. Ideally from our perspective this could include

A café on the ground floor of the House providing healthy, affordable food and drinks

Room hire for community, businesses, families, parties, weddings, etc

Family events: puppet shows, craft workshops, music and movement, kid’s films

Community events: cultural events and exhibitions about our diverse community

Other events: Small classical music shows, talks, learning workshops, fitness classes

Small business units for lease in the Stable Block with shared business resources and support

Rental income from Professional Tenant in the Stable Block, e.g., voluntary sector organisation

Education Grants – pursue projects targeted at young people and linked to national curriculum

Lease of Artist Studios – create studios in stable yard for designers and artists, periodically open to public for viewing

Art Exhibitions – sales commission fees accruing to the House
