The 2874 Trust Ltd
Please donate to support our cause. This locomotive is the only one of its class that is ever likely to steam again in 'as designed and built form', namely with internal steam pipes - making it unique in working preservation. 2874 was built in Swindon, leaving in late November 1918 and withdrawn from service in 1963 and is in 'Barry scrap' condition. We estimate that the cost will be in the region of £500,000. As part of the restoration process one of the Trust's prime aims is to encourage young people, both male and female, to become involved, learning the heavy engineering skills. At present we are concentrating on the loco itself - there is no tender with her at the moment, but we are working closely with a (not for profit ) company who will assist with both the restoration process and the operation of the loco when complete. There is much to do and it is a major engineering project so we urgently need your help both financial and physical if you can.
