Charity description

Tailor Ed Foundation logo
Tailor Ed Foundation wishes to see children with autism and their families empowered and included, able to live the lives they want to and access all the day to day experiences that other families take for granted.
Tailor Ed Foundation is an independent charity committed to improving the quality of life for children with autism and their families. We offer a home based service, where we teach practical skills and provide useful strategies tailored to your child and family. This service is available free of charge to families with a child with autism from the age of 3 to 16, living in the City of Edinburgh. We target practical skills, from getting dressed and toileting, to brushing teeth and going to bed, as well as most things in between. We also provide training to professionals who work with autistic children.

To run our service supporting 200 families as well as the wider Edinburgh autism community through our social and information services, it costs around £215,000 per year. Contributions are very much appreciated to help with the continuation of our service. For example:

£25 pays for a Home Visit with one of our Project Workers to a family who need help making progress with a daily living
skill for their child.

£40 pays for a parent to attend a workshop to learn about ways to help their child develop a new skill.

£5 pays for bespoke materials (token boards, visual supports) made by a Project Worker to help a child achieve their target.
