Sutton Community Transport
Why? Getting from A to B is at the core of a person’s ability to get out and live independently; socialise; or access services. Without low cost vehicle hire many of the groups/individuals we support would miss out.
We don’t receive regular funding but undertake contract work, wherever possible, to fund low cost vehicle hire for our members (disabled individuals/groups, community groups/projects/charities). We also help people gain/regain skills/confidence to use public transport with two charitable training projects called Bus Days and Independent Travel Training.
SCT run with a small team of paid staff and rely on volunteers from its Board of Trustees on a daily basis. This structure ensures that every pound of income goes towards maintaining/renewing our vehicles and providing charitable projects. Every pound you donate really does make a difference to us.
We urgently need your help with our fleet renewal efforts which have posed specific difficulties in the past five years due to the current economic climate. We buy vehicles which are a few years old to make money go further and provide more support for every pound raised.
We have replaced two vehicles through our fundraising endeavours so far and are working hard to renew another two vehicles we urgently need.
Can you please help us? Any donation, no matter how small, really does help.
- Your donation will help us continue to support organisations who work with disabled children, young people and older people who use our vehicles to improve quality of life, educational/life enrichment opportunities.
- Your donation will help us maintain our subsidised weekly shopping service which helps vulnerable older people maintain their independence by simply being able to go to their local supermarket using our accessible minibuses.
- Your donation will help vulnerable people avoid isolation.
