Surrey Canoe Club
Our mission is to promote sport by breaking down barriers to participation and supporting community engagement.
We focus on three integrated areas:
Surrey Canoe Club delivers free of charge sessions,
courses, coaching and leadership qualifications as well as a dyslexia study hub to the disabled and the youth not in education, employment or training. We also run a free of charge Mentoring Scheme and community projects to tackle social isolation and mental illness.
Surrey Canoe Club works in partnership with other voluntary
and charity organisations and supports outdoor education in college for students with learning difficulties and dyslexia.
Our aim is to achieve 3 strategic goals by 2019:
Participation: Disabled adults and young people improve their wellbeing, their lives and the lives of those around them.
Education: Vulnerable and disabled adults and young people have improved experiences and life chances.
Community Development: Prevention – Disabled adults and young people and families successfully deal with life changes and challenges.
The club has won many awards and it’s projects and activities have been featured in international organisation websites such as the International Paralympic Committee.
