St Bartholomew & St John Parish Church
Help Save Our Roof
At the historic mediaeval St. Bartholomew’s Church in Great Harwood, the congregation are preparing to renew the main Nave roof. This follows major repairs to the south aisle roof which cost £70,000.
It is a big task, so during the next 12 months the parish church is organising a series of fundraising events; we hope the variety of events will mean there is “something for everyone,” for Great Harwood people and friends from further afield, whether they count themselves as part of the church or not.
The first one is a Thornton’s Chocolate Party on Wednesday 19th March in St. Bartholomew’s School at 07.00pm. .

This venerable old parish church needs no written word to convey its beauty and quiet charm. Plain and symmetrical and uncluttered, it stands as a monument to the Glory of God and to the loving care of thousands of men and women who have worshipped here during the centuries of its existence.
It is with this historical heritage and importance in mind that it is essential that we preserve and maintain the fabric of this beautiful building. It needs to be preserved for the sake of our future generations and the continuation of Christian worship in our town, and as a beacon of outreach to the community.
