Staffed entirely by volunteers, Southern Sound is a registered charity funded by donations. Every penny donated goes towards ensuring we can stay on air.

Launched in May 1974 at Philipshill Hospital, Southern Sound Hospital Radio transferred to the Southern General Hospital on 24th April 1995. It has provided a charitable service for over 40 years.

Its new studios are based 1 mile from the hospital at Harmony Row and our volunteers regularly visit  to collect record requests that can be played that day.
