SOUTH EAST LONDON BREAST CANCER TRUST
The South East London Breast Cancer Trust was formed in August 2010 as a result of patients leading a fund raising campaign to purchase a Lymph Node Analyser for The Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough Kent. In the Autumn if 2010 The Trust handed over £100,000. The Analyser was put in to action in February 2011. Now patients in the London Borough of Bromley and surrounding areas are able to have their sentinel lymph node tested for cancer spread during initial life saving surgery. No wait of two/three weeks for lab results and then for some additional surgery. In 2016 we donated £100,000 to the new Radiotherapy Unit at the Queen Mary's site to purchase a Deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) which will protect the heart of ladies that have breast cancer on their left side. This unit is run by Guy's and St Thomas's. We also pruchased some new cold cap machines for the Chartwell Unit at the Princess Royal hospital that same year.
The trust has charitable status and is now working in partnership with a number of community organisations to raise additional funding to support better treatment and support for Breast Cancer Patients in South East London and neighbouring areas.
