Ruth Hayman Trust
The charity was set up in 1983 by the National Association for Teaching English and other Community Languages (NATECLA) in memory of its first secretary. Ruth Hayman was a courageous lawyer in South Africa who in the late 1960s was banned for her opposition to apartheid.
The Trust awards life changing grants to help our applicants get the education or training they need to start a new life in the UK. As course fees rise and education budgets are cut, there is more need than ever before for the financial support provided by the Trust.
