Offwell Woodland & Wildlife Trust
The Trust began restoring and maintained its 50 acre wildlife reserve in 1986, from what was an overgrown tangled 'jungle' of invasive Rhododendron ponticum. Today many newly restored native habitats including lowland heath, wetland, wet woodland and deciduous woodland are home to a wide range of wildlife including dragonflies, amphibians, birds, insects and mammals. This makes the site the ideal venue for environmental education field trips for all ages and abilities. The Trust provides curriculum based hands-on activities for primary, secondary and tertiary level students. It maintains a 2000+ page website which is regularly used by students and schools all around the world, receiving over 1.5 million hits per month. The Trust has a supporters group known as 'Offwell Woodlanders' and holds a number of interesting events for members as well as issuing a regular newsletter.
