Oarsome Chance Foundation
Oarsome Chance is a young and growing charity based in the Portsmouth area working to improve the prospects of youngsters who for reasons of ability or circumstances are in need of a helping hand in life.
Oarsome Chance uses the sports of coastal rowing, sailing and boat building projects to promote and encourage core values and skills for whole life benefits that can be used to improve health and education, combat obesity and enhance personal development and self-esteem. The charity works with schools and other youth projects building St Ayles Skiffs and fixed seat rowing boats designed specifically for the charity, then offering the opportunity to learn to row for the youngsters to enjoy the fruits of their labours.

Oarsome Chance (OC) was founded in 2015 inspired by the concept of introducing disadvantaged young people to the joys and benefits of water based activities.
OC offers schools and youth organisations three different programmes designed to educate, enhance and encourage their youngsters by experiencing different skills and challenges. These broadly fall into three categories: boat building and carpentry; dry rowing and on water activities. The charity at present operates out of two centres in Portsmouth and Gosport were the dry rowing and boat building workshops are situated. The charity also has six St Ayles Skiffs available for the youngsters to get out on the water in.
