Charity description

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.
Oak and Furrows Wildlife Rescue Centre are devoted to caring for sick injured and orphaned wildlife 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We provide the necessary care needed to return them to the wild.
In 2016 we cared for over 4000 casualties, our highest ever number of patients helped by the charity.

The centre was founded in 1994 and became a registered charity in 2006. In addition to the care provided to wildlife, we also provide educational talks to adults and children. We believe education is key to the future survival of our wildlife heritage.

We relocated to our new site at the Blakehill Nature Reserve in Leigh in May 2015 in order to expand and improve the facilities we are able to provide. In the next the next couple of months (time and budget allowing) we would like to plan for an otter enclosure, secure and expand our facilities for water birds, as well as general landscaping and site maintenance. In time we would like to have specialist facilities for all British wildlife to be able to see them trough all stages of rehabilitation and release.
Our work is only made possible by a dedicated band of 7 staff members and over 50 volunteers who help in all areas of the work we do supporting the centre in animal care duties, collection and releases of casualties, fundraising, site maintenance and more.

In addition to the relocation and project costs, we have monthly running costs in the region of £9000. We are fully funded by donations and can only continue our work thanks to these kind donations and support from our members and the public. If you can help us in any way we would be very grateful, our website contains a link for donations.
