North of England Civic Trust logo
North of England Civic Trust was founded in 1965; we are a registered charity and Building Preservation Trust active in Cumbria, the North East and North Yorkshire. In recent years we have delivered nearly £10 million of projects, generating jobs in areas of deprivation and contributing to the local economy. In 2015 we won a prestigious EU/Europa Nostra Cultural Heritage Award for our Heritage Skills Initiative which delivered over 150,000 hours of training and involved 38,00 people!

As a Building Preservation Trust we step in to save historic buildings when no other solution can be found. Warwick Bridge Corn Mill is a Grade II* listed corn mill complete with waterwheel, 5 sets of millstones and associated milling equipment. The mill has remained almost unchanged as part of the village since the 1840s, though it can trace its origins back to the era of the Doomsday Book. The future of the mill has been uncertain since the last miller retired in 1989 so this project is essential to save both the building and its important machinery. The project will bring the mill back into full working order as an asset for the local community and revitalise millwrighting skills in the region. The total project cost is just over £2 Million, and we have raised about 80% of the funds so far, thanks to grants from various bodies but we need your help to get us over the finish line and allow us to start the process of bringing the building back to life.
