Charity description

The Northern Battle of Britain Monument Appeal is a charity that is building a National Monument in the north of the country dedicated to the 2,954 allied pilots and aircrew who fought in the Battle of Britain.

The Monument will complement those in London and Capel-le-Ferne near Dover. It has been designed by Polish sculptor Robert Sobocinski and is based on the three blades of a Merlin engine propeller. These elements are linked to a three dimensional scene of an aerial combat. There will be two stained glass windows with RAF Squadron crests and panels depicting scenes from the Battle. All 2,954 names will be engraved on the panels.
When complete the Monument will be linked to a visitor centre at the South Yorkshire Air Museum. Here both young and old will be able to explore and understand the significance of the Battle where "so much was owed by so many to so few" Please help us to build this Monument so we can all "Remember the Few by
Reminding the Many"

Charity No: 1159134
