NEPACS and its forerunners have been working in the north east of England to support a positive future for prisoners and their families for over 130 years. NEPACS provide a number of services within prisons and in the community to support friends and families of prisoners. This includes prison visitors' centres and tea bars, play sessions for children, special family visits, youth projects, integrated family support, and support within the Middlesbrough and Durham courts.
- Each year NEPACS welcome over 140,000 visitors through our centres, including over 17,000 children who use NEPACS' play facilities
- It is estimated that 200,000 children in England and Wales experience the imprisonment of a parent every year
- Ministry of Justice figures tell us that prisoners are 39% less likely to reoffend if they have had visits throughout their prison sentence.
Much of our work is delivered by volunteers, who bring
energy, warmth and friendship and ensure a warm welcome to all.
