Charity description

Necessary Furniture is an entirely self-funded registered Charity that has now been in existence since 1997. It is a local (East Kent) charity, in the community working for the community.  It is managed by its Trustees who are all prominent people within East Kent and Canterbury City Council. Who would have thought that a small local charity would make it this far?
Necessary Furniture has a strong, successful proven track record and although initially established in the Canterbury District, are increasingly taking donations from and delivering all over East Kent.
Necessary Furniture helps whole communities in a very simple way to achieve the ultimate win-win! ou for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.

Please donate - Since 1997 Necessary Furniture has helped thousands of individuals, couples and families with this honest, altruistic service that benefits both giver and receiver whilst strengthening the community.
Although the Project initially sought and supported purchasers from within the benefits and welfare system, Necessary Furniture have changed the way they operate due to high demand. The recession saw many people not being able to afford good quality furniture so they are now able to offer the services to anyone who need it; examples such as: people on benefits, low income working families or individuals, students or young people moving into their own accommodation for the first time, young couples setting up their first home, single parents, etc.
We get a large number of referrals from KCC Social Services and from KSAS who administer the Voucher scheme on behalf of KCC. to support our cause.
