Charity description

Mousetrap Theatre Projects logo
Mousetrap Theatre Projects is a theatre education charity dedicated to introducing young people to the magic of live theatre. We work particularly with young people who are socially and economically disadvantaged, children with special needs and those who are blind or partially sighted and deaf and hard of hearing.
“Percy who is severely autistic and 7 years old loved Shrek so much that he cried when it was finished and said ‘I want Shrek – more music please’. He very rarely speaks. Thank you so much.” Mother after our 'relaxed' performance of Shrek The Musical.

We take approximately 14,000 young people to see top London productions each year. For many of them it is their first time ever in a theatre and the impact on them can be profound. It can change their attitudes, expose a different aspect of life, teach them something new or simply make them laugh. As one teacher from Walthamstow Academy said to us,
‘It has opened up a new world to our students and begun to open their eyes… “life-changing” would not be an overstatement’

We don't stop at a theatre trip. We run education programmes in schools and communities, using theatre as a catalyst to explore ideas, learn new creative and personal skills, raise confidence and self esteem and offer new perspectives.
