Mnarani Aid

Charity description

Mnarani Aid logo
Mnarani Aid is a charity dedicated to helping the Special Needs children of Kilifi area of Kenya by helping them to learn skills that will make them of value to their family and community.

Mnarani Aid was formed in 2008 to help the children of Kilifi County by improving their Primary schools. Kilifi, on Kenya’s coast, is 30 miles north of Mombasa. The area has a high level of unemployment with 60% of men being without work and a high number of orphans caused by HIV/AIDS. The Primary Schools are Mnarani, Konjora and Matsangoni, which are government funded and have roles of 1400 pupils aged between 4 and 14. Class sizes average 60 pupils. After having made great improvements to the schools' infrastructure, we are now concentrating on helping to deliver good quality education to the Special Needs children in these three schools. The aim being to help these children to become useful members of their family and community. This will help their confidence and self esteem.
We do this by teaching living skills, animal husbandry and farming.  Currently we have gardens at the schools and some goats and chickens.
But we have a large problem at Konjora. The nearest toilets are 400yds away, a great distance if you are young and disabled. We need a new toilet and clean water. So we are looking to raise £1,500 to complete the project. For more details go to
