Mind in West Cumbria Ltd
We are committed to a person-centred approach, which is reflected in our safe, confidential and inclusive drop-in service. Our services provide for increased levels of social engagement and activities to promote improved levels of emotional well-being, independent living skills, and resilience.
At Mind, we aim to treat people fairly, positively, and with respect. We also work in collaboration with others to deliver holistic and bespoke services for adults and families with experience of mental distress living in West Cumbria. We currently have fifteen volunteers, including some volunteer counsellors, who help us provide our services to the community; services range from counselling and family support, which provide targeted and personal support tailored to the needs of each case, to drop ins and our Try-Athlon project, where we encourage social growth and inclusion among our mentally vulnerable clients. Our garden project also aims to get clients back into volunteering and feel like capable members of society again.
As an entirely self-funded organisation, we are dependent on donations, gifts and grants to continue providing services through a variety of projects. We thank you wholeheartedly for the support shown to us today!
We provide support for vulnerable adults and families where mental health is an issue through a number of services; social inclusion, improved independence and self-esteem are all qualities we hope to nurture within clients who turn to us for help. The charity operates with four part time staff, approximately fifteen volunteers, and a stable trustee board that includes a solicitor, senior accountant, ex senior executive from Sellafield, two former mayors, and a retired criminologist/ former chair of mental health in a large district authority with a degree in Clinical Psychology as Chairman. Our trustee board also benefits from member/ volunteer representation to make sure we are meeting the needs of those we serve.
