MARINElife started life as the Biscay Dolphin Research Programme in 1995, conducting ferry-based surveys and employing the first ship-based wildlife officer aboard P&O Ferries Pride of Bilbao.
Our work made Biscay famous as a whale and dolphin hotspot and our onboard education programme reached over a million people.
The organisation expanded its research aboard ferries with new routes beyond Biscay and became a charity in 2006 under the broader title of MARINElife.
Now running a programme of conservation research projects from large and small vessels, MARINElife works in partnership with universities and other organisations to maximise the conservation value of the research data collected and promote conservation action with decision makers such as JNCC and the European Commission.
