Charity description

The Lodging House Mission (LHM) has operated in Glasgow for over 100 years and provides essential support to homeless and vulnerable people. Our approach is inclusive and person centred, ensuring that individuals have food, warmth and companionship during the day from Monday to Friday each week of the year, no one is turned away. Our non exclusion policy and range of facilities make the LHM the busiest service of its kind in the city with an average of 120 individuals coming thorough our doors each day. Those who use the LHM are affected by severe and enduring mental health issues, addiction to drugs and or alcohol and in many ways are socially excluded.

We aim to break the cycles of homelessness and social exclusion by promoting harm reduction and recovery through a range of interventions and development opportunities. We have helped countless individuals integrate back into mainstream society and believe everyone should have this opportunity.

Our drop-in cafe is open from 8.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday offering free cereal for breakfast and free soup and bread at lunchtime. Cooked food is available from 12 noon until 1.30pm at subsidised prices. Our commited support team are on hand to provide practial help, advocacy and make referrals to other agencies.

Our Insight Project initiative encourages individuals to develop skills and confidence by participating in short educational programmes. Current courses include cookery, budgeting, drama, art, digital photography, computing, creative writing
