LAMP - Preventing homelessness:Building positive young lives, homes, support and training for disadvantaged 16-25 year olds

LAMP has been helping homeless young
people in Luton and Bedford for over 20 years, first we help them find a safe
secure home in a shared house then we start the much longer process of helping
them get their lives back on track. Most
of our young people arrive at LAMP either because of family break down or as unaccompanied
children seeking asylum who arrive in the UK with nothing, and for both groups, their lives are
in chaos. We help them find a way forward, they have
lots of different and varied needs from basic life skills training like
cleaning, cooking, budgeting to more personal issues such as depression, low
self-esteem, lack of self-confidence. We
are with them for the long haul and aim to support them all the way through to
training, employment and independent living.
Nobody should have to cope with all of these things on their own let
alone a scared 17 year old with no idea of how the world works.
