Kinross First Responders
In the Kinross group we are all local volunteers. We work with the Scottish Ambulance Service to provide lifesaving treatment to those people in our community who are critically ill. We bridge the gap between a 999 call and the arrival of an ambulance.
All First Responders undergo a four-day Scottish Ambulance Service course with on-going training and assessment throughout the year. We meet monthly to ensure we keep our skills up to the required standard.
As well as Kinross and Milnathort, we also provide emergency cover to areas including Crook of Devon, Carnbo, Cleish, Glenfarg, Gateside, Scotlandwell and Kinneswood. Our aim is to provide as close to 24h cover as possible.
We are trained in CPR, carry defibrillators and can also administer oxygen to help stabilise patients prior to the ambulance arriving. We only attend life threatening situations such as cardiac arrests, suspected heart attacks, medical collapse, difficulty in breathing, choking, unconscious patients and seizures. We don’t attend injuries such as broken bones or other injuries which are not life threatening.
