Kinross Curling Trust

Charity description

Kinross Curling Trust logo
Did you know that curling originated in Scotland and has been exported all over the world. Scotland has won more medals for curling in international competition than any other sport.

Records show that curling existed in Kinross in the 17th century. Kinross has also been the home rink for several world, olympic and national champions.

The Kinross Curling Trust is a charity existing to secure the future of curling in Kinross by creating and operating a club, owned by curlers for the benefit of curlers.

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.

Kinross Curling Rink was built in the mid 1970’s when much less was known about the
science of curling and ice-making than now. The current building is not fit for purpose if we want to offer players of all ages, including schoolchildren and disability groups, the best conditions for the sport. Why should our most successful sport be hampered by sub-standard facilities?

Key improvements needed are:

1. The refrigerant gas in the cooling plant becomes illegal in 2015. New plant is the answer.

2. Theice floor is sand-based – a substandard construction which suffers frost heave

3. The building is not insulated

4. The internal
climatic conditions are far from ideal dehumidification, heating and airflow all require attention

5. The public areas require upgrading.

The Trust is working hard to be able to upgrade the premises in Kinross. Please donate to help us!
