Kingston Rowing Club

Charity description

Kingston Rowing Club logo
As well as being one of the world's oldest and most successful rowing clubs, Kingston Rowing Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) enabling people young and old and from all walks of life across the borough to participate in rowing at very affordable subscription levels made possible by an extraordinary level of volunteering in the club.

The club caters for all levels of ability and aspiration, demonstrated by both a thriving novice squad and social events calendar, through to medallists in recent Olympics.

KRC is a large and busy club with over two hundred active members including university students and school pupils from many Kingston schools. The club is managed by an executive committee of 16 volunteers. Its activities range from the complex job of managing the clubhouse and rowing to safety management on and off the water.

In order to grow and thrive, KRC needs to invest in its clubhouse, boats and professional coaches. Subscriptions fall well short of the cost of membership and as well as having a strong volunteering culture, the club is active in raising additional monies through organising races, fund raising and winning grants and the many friends of the club who make generous donations.
