Charity description

At Kilmarnock Horse rescue and rehoming centre in Crawley, Sussex, our aim is to care for and re-home as many abandoned and mistreated animals as we can. Our rescue centre started in 2000 by founder Carol Jackson when she adopted our first case, Oliver.

Our rescue and rehoming centre is funded solely from the generosity of our sponsors, fundraisers, and donators, and with the number of cases we're seeing, the growth of our centre is vital, and we simply cannot function without your help.

Kilmarnock Horse Rescue has been registered as a charity since December 2014. With the help of our supporters, donors and everyone's fundraising activities, the centre has grown, and more stable blocks and shelters have been built to house our growing number of rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.
  • At the Kilmarnock Horse Rescue and Rehoming Centre we currently have 20 resident horses and ponies and 9 donkeys in our Sussex based facility.
  • Some horses and ponies are elderly or have been so badly injured or mistreated in the past that they will need to spend the rest of their lives here in 'sanctuary' care.

  • Where possible we aim to find experienced re- homers or foster carers for those rescued horses and ponies that can go on to live safe and happy lives either ridden or as companions.

We are currently hoping to raise money to continue to buy the usual items such as feed and stable bedding, and we are also hoping to carry out repairs and general maintenance to our stables following this year's harsh winter, however we also desperately need to generate funding to pay a member of staff.
