Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust

Charity description

Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust logo
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship and emotional stress of bereaved families repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust was established as a legacy to Kevin Bell, who died tragically following a hit and run in June 2013 whilst living in New York. Following monumental fundraising activity and donations towards the repatriation expenses, a substantial amount of money was raised above and beyond what was needed. It was the Bell family's decision to establish a charity, as a legacy to Kevin, to help others who find themselves in a similar tragic position. To date, KBRT has helped repatriate the bodies of over 600 people who have died abroad to places across the island of Ireland. The Trust is sustained by ongoing fundraising events and donations, many of which are organised or given in memory of those which it has helped.
