KCU (Kettering Community Unit)

Charity description

KCU (Kettering Community Unit) logo
The Kettering Community Unit (KCU) is a long established Kettering charity providing support to the people of Kettering and surrounding areas.  We do this by providing free training and education courses, Foodbank services to those in food poverty and low cost furniture provision.  This helps improve opportunities to gain employment, reduce social isolation and improve health and well-being.

We believe that everyone, regardless of ability, disability or circumstance should have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our Foodbank is affiliated to the Trussell Trust and we provide a unique service whereby we deliver food parcels directly to the agencies who would normally issue Foodbank vouchers.  This allows the agencies to provide people with food immediately without having to travel to the Foodbank.  We have recently seen a significant demand for food support and in particular from rural areas of our borough, such as Rothwell, Desborough and outlying villages.  These people have no money or means to get into town to collect a food parcel, but are in desperate need of support.

With your help, we want to be able to meet this increased demand for food support and be able to provide a regular emergency food parcel delivery service to those people in need.  In order to achieve this we will need a new vehicle, and extra driver and extra support services.  This will cost us in the region of five thousand pounds and we hope to raise this as a matter of urgency.

Any donation, whatever size, will be greatly appreciated.
