Iris Cancer Partnership
Collaborating to provide oncology massage therapy across Scotland
According to research a third of the UK population will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and according to Cancer Research UK, “In the UK, up to one third of people with cancer (33%) uses some sort of complementary therapy at some time during their illness. For some types of cancer, such as breast cancer, the number of people using complementary therapies is even higher at almost half (50%).”
The Iris Cancer Partnership has brought together a multi-disciplinary team consisting of patients, oncologists, specialist cancer nurses, massage schools, research, NHS policy, hospices and a cancer support centre to establish Scotland as a Centre of Excellence in Oncology Massage.
Our charity is providing specialist training for massage therapists to enable them to comfort, nurture and support people with cancer and our charitable benefit is to “provide, and support other organisations in the provision of, massage therapy specially adapted for those diagnosed with cancer.”
