Horton Chapel Arts and Heritage Society
Our project will renovate Horton Chapel as a dynamic arts centre - a fantastic asset for the community and a destination attraction for the region.
We have secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Architectural Heritage Fund and Locality, matched by historic ring-fenced funds being held by Epsom & Ewell Borough Council to enable us to start work on our project.
But we are still fundraising to do this incredible building justice and provide the amenities to make it a real success.
Please use this page to make general donations, with your donation being tax-efficient.
If you wish to support us in a particular way, including financing an aspect of the building or activities that are of particular interest to you please get in touch directly with us for a discussion.
Horton Chapel Arts & Heritage Society became a charity in 2016, with the specific aim of rescuing and redeveloping Horton Chapel as an arts and heritage centre.
The Grade II-listed Horton Chapel is the only remaining building of the former Epsom Psychiatric Hospitals Cluster with potential to be freely open to the public.
The building will become a thriving cultural centre at the heart of the community, meeting a clearly-identified need. It will offer a dynamic arts programme, café and bar, learning activities, venue hire for events such as weddings and parties, as well as a permanent exhibition about the unique history of the site, which is of national importance, contemporary local resonance and at great risk of being lost.
The project will provide new enterprise opportunities and amenities for local people, businesses and visitors. Working with Epsom’s University, FE College and local community organisations, it will offer people the chance to learn new skills and take pride in their heritage.
