Hope UK

Charity description

Hope UK logo
Hope UK equipping children and young people throughout the UK to make drug-free choices.

Too many children and young people are still risking their health and their futures
by using drugs and alcohol. Hope UK trains volunteers to
become Drug Educators in their own communities.

The training course takes 120 hours to complete and is accredited with the Open College Network. Volunteers are
given the knowledge, skills and resources they need to provide interactive drug awareness sessions not only for children and young people, but also for those with responsibility
for them (like parents and youth workers). They work in schools, with youth groups and in more challenging situations like pupil referral units and hostels for homeless young people. We currently have 130 volunteers
and are recruiting and training more each year.

It costs £1,200 to train each volunteer and around £450 per year to support them thereafter with travelling expenses, resources and an annual updating conference. We
depend on donations and grants to meet these costs.
