Helensburgh and Lomond Carers SCIO

Charity description

Thank you for visiting our donate page. We are in regular contact with over 800 local unpaid carers. We provide advice, training, short respite breaks, de-stressing therapies, a befriending service and a range of social activities for all our carers and there are also special programmes to help young carers with their developmental and educational needs. We have been supporting carers in our communities since 2000 and cover the whole area, including the Peninsula, Arrochar and Cardross as well as Helensburgh and its immediate surrounds. Everybody knows a carer. A parent with an autistic child. A young person with a parent, brother or sister, who needs support. A son or daughter looking after an ailing
parent. An elderly person looking after a failing partner. And everybody knows that being a carer is demanding, stressful and time-consuming.

In recent years Argyll & Bute Council & NHS Highland have taken some responsibilities for carers. We carry out work on their behalf and they provide some of our funding. Otherwise we rely on donations, fundraising events, volunteers, and above all grants from charities for particular activities. Our work with young carers was funded by a grant which has now ended and continuation of this presents a funding challenge! To be able to fund this work properly and have the resources to apply for and secure grant funding in future we need to strengthen our funding base. Please help us to continue carrying out this important work. Our target for this campaign is £25,000. We do not have the resources of a national charity and must rely on local support. You can help us, either by making a one-off donation, or better, by becoming a supporter and donating regularly by standing order to help to secure our financial future and our ability to provide services for local carers.Thank you.
