Originally built in 1830 as a five sailed windmill, the 8 sailed machinery was fitted in 1892 by John Pocklington, who purchased it in Boston and brought it to Heckington.
Visitors to the windmill can explore the windmill and visitor centre, and enjoy refreshments in the Miller's House Tea Rooms, where we sell cakes baked using our own stone-ground flour. We also have a shop and Micro-brewery on site.
Heckington Windmill Trust was established in 1981 and is a registered Charity.
The windmill and site is run entirely by volunteers, who open and operate the windmill, bake cakes, serve in the tea rooms, research and catalogue our museum collection, provide tours for our visitors, and hold some wonderful special events during the year.
Much more information is available on the website: www.heckingtonwindmill.org.uk.
