Charity description

Thank you for your interest in Health for All, a small UK charity committed to improving the lives of poor people in Bihar, NE India.

Health for All was founded in 1999 to support a health care project in Bihar, one of the poorest states in India. Dr Mark Jones, a general practitioner in Kent, who had first visited India as a medical student in 1980, returned from a visit to Bihar in the late 1990s. He had seen at first hand the result of villagers living without any health care. Initially, funds were raised to build a small health centre in the village of Kanjiar but support has since grown so that Health for All is now funding a nurse and health team covering eleven villages. The team's projects have included installation of clean water pumps, a weekly feeding programme in the dalit village of Dadpur where malnutrition had been widespread and the development of women's self-help groups where micro-credit schemes enable women to generate income from a variety of small business ventures. Slowly and surely we are making a difference to people's lives. Thank you for your interest and support.
