HAPPA was founded in 1937 to stop the transport of equines to the continent for slaughter. As complaints of cruelty and neglect came flooding in, the Charity formed the work that it still does today, investigating cruelty and neglect of horses, ponies and donkeys in the UK.

HAPPA has a fully equipped Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Burnley, Lancashire where rescued equines are loving restored to health by knowledgeable and skilled staff.Once fully rehabilitated equines are rehomed to a Forever Home through the legally binding HAPPA Borrowers' Scheme. Equines can also be sponsored through their rehabilitation with the Second Chance Sponsorship Scheme. The Centre is open to the public and hosts events and activities throughout the year. Home to up to 60 equines at any one time at a cost of £19,000 each week.Come and support HAPPA TODAY and see how YOU can make a difference to equine welfare.
