Hants & Surrey Borders RDA

Charity description

Hants & Surrey Borders RDA logo
Thank you for visiting the Hants and Surrey Borders Riding for the Disabled donations page. We are a self funding charity giving therapeutic riding lessons to local disabled children free of charge.

Each year we give at least 1,000 free pony rides to local children with a variety of disabilities ranging from Cerebral Palsy, Hemiplegia to Autism and Asperger Syndrome. On the physical side riding a pony is a good way to exercise core muscles to build strength and improve balance. Whilst the body is being worked and strengthened the mind is being challenged with games and tasks to improve coordination, concentration and confidence. We like to play games and set challenges for each child depending on their needs and we monitor each session to see improvements and make adjustments as needed. Interacting with other children, volunteers and ponies develops their social skills too, which is essential to happy and effective communication with others. Oh, and most of all it's fun!

100% of any funds that you donate or raise on our behalf will go to the charity to enable us to continue to provide these wonderful riding experiences and help local children. Thank you!
