Grafham Water Sailability

Charity description

Grafham Water Sailability is a charity based in Cambridgeshire with the objective of enabling people with many types of disability to enjoy the thrill of sailing and the sense of freedom that can be got from being on the water.

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.

Our objective is to encourage and enable people with disabilities of all types to participate in sailing and other water based activities, and thus get the same enjoyment, freedom and fun as able-bodied sailors. We meet this objective through providing for our members:
  • 12 Challenger Trimarans
  • 2 Hobie Trimarans
  • A Drascombe Longboat
  • 2 RIBs – safety and training
Sailing presents unique opportunities for disabled people of all ages - the chance to achieve self-reliance and feel the exhilaration or peaceful relaxation of being on the water. It also gives those that wish to, the ability to compete with able bodied sailors on an equal footing, through the use of our specially designed and adapted boats.

Imagine the thrill of sailing for people, who can feel and hear but have no sight, or of sailing a boat at speed even though they can’t walk, or of joining in a sport where deafness doesn’t matter. Imagine the joy sailing could give you if you developed a degenerative and painful condition, such as Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis or Alzheimer’s or had a major accident, and could no longer lead the life you once enjoyed.

Please donate to support our cause.
