Gladrags Community Costume Trust

Charity description

Gladrags is a unique resource bringing the magic of costumes to groups and individuals who experience disadvantage. Reaching them via community projects, schools & colleges and statutory organiations we provide:

Subsidised hire of costumes and Resource Boxes; a programme of funded educational workshops and outreach activities which include: teaching sewing skills, dress-up play; interactive storytelling and reminiscence sessions.

With your help, we can reach many more people. Please donate to support
our work.

Gladrags was founded 20 years ago on the belief that costumes should be accessible to all, and in particular to those who have few creative opportunities. These days we stock a vast range of over 5000 costumes which serve to resource community, educational and wellbeing
projects, supporting and enriching their work.

Our educational workshops with children and young people teach sewing as a life skill, promoting the recycling and re-use of clothing; our "What We Wore" sessions invite reminiscence, harking back to the 1950s and 60s; and our storytelling and dress-up events for 3 - 12 yr olds encourage active, imaginative play!
