Charity description

Friends of Kensal Rise Library logo
Kensal Rise Library was uniquely opened by Mark Twain in 1900, closed by the council in 2011 and reopened - after a long struggle - by the community in 2017. Please help us keep it open.

We need £40K a year just to keep the library open, but receive no regular public funding. We would also like to build a much-needed children's library that will cost £10K.

We have already raised over £200K for the library's refurbishment. When we first got the building’s keys the space was little more than a building site. This space would otherwise have been turned into private flats. Today, after a lot of hard work, it looks stunning. However, it won't be complete without the children’s library.
So please be part of our future by supporting our fundraising heroes and donate via their links below. You have until June 30th 2019!

Our wonderful heroes are:
  • James Denselow, running in the London Marathon for the library.
  • bit.ly/JamesDenselowKRL
  • Our Blenheim Triathlon team of local volunteers (including some in their 60s) running, cycling and swimming to raise funds for the library.
  • See their link below.
We thank them - and you!
