Charity description

What is FoGMS?
All parents and carers are automatically members of Friends of Great Marlow School (FoGMS). It is an organisation that actively fundraises for the benefit of all the students at Great Marlow School (GMS). The association has helped raise large sums of money to provide facilities and equipment for GMS, which it could not otherwise afford. At key points in the year, social and educational functions occur for parents, carers, staff and the wider community.

FoGMS principal role is to promote a strong understanding and co-operation between home and school. It is a way for parents and carers to become actively involved in the school.

How has FoGMS supported GMS in previous years
Previously, FoGMS have raised monies for a complete refurbishment of the lighting and sound system in the school hall; new outdoor seating for students; new equipment and kit for various sporting activities; new equipment for the music department; money to support an overhaul of the environmental area a new mini-bus and much more.

FoGMS fundraising goals for 2017-2018
This year the schools wish list is for a second mini-bus and an outdoor classroom. Whilst we support both initiatives, we do not raise enough money to fund two vehicles, so we propose to have a long-term fundraising project and build towards the outdoor classroom. We are still discussing options with the school, however, this would probably take the shape of an octagonal wooden building.
