Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature
Festival of Words and Music (FFW&M) is a self-funding, annual event,
coinciding with Daphne du Maurier’s birthday in May. The purpose of the
festival is twofold:
to inspire interest and involvement in the literary arts and music;
to contribute to the prosperity of the town of Fowey.
Achieving high standards of artist integrity is central to the continuing success of the festival. The goals, therefore, are to present a programme that is broad and balanced in scope, diverse in nature and varied in style.
Locating the festival in the heart of the town provides an opportunity for Fowey traders to offer goods and services that meet the needs of performers and festival goers alike, thereby contributing to the town’s commercial success.
Without adversely affecting the core values of artistic integrity, merit and variety, ticket pricing is to be set at low but realistic levels making events financially accessible to a wide range of households.
The festival’s financial plan based on cautious, prudent and realistic budgetary target setting underpins the short, medium and long term planning. The views of performers, audiences and members of the local community are used to gather, monitor and analyse feedback with outcomes informing future planning.
