FOVANT BADGES SOCIETY

Charity description

FOVANT BADGES SOCIETY logo
The Fovant Badges Society is run by volunteers and aims to maintain and preserve the regimental chalk badges carved on the Fovant Downs in Wiltshire (they are Scheduled Ancient Monuments and National War Memorials).

Each year the Fovant Badges Society spends in the region of £30,000 to re-chalk and maintain the regimental badges carved into the hillside of Fovant Downs in south Wiltshire. We have produced educational material for use in schools and by historians. This material is available on our website - www.fovantbadges.com.
In 2016 we built a new chalk badge to commemorate the centenary of the first badge built in 1916.  It was built entirely by volunteers.
Your donation will help us to preserve the chalk badges, many of which commemorate the thousands of World War I soldiers who passed through the Fovant training camps in 1916 - 1918. Please donate to support our cause.  Thank you.
