Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre
Charity description

We are an independent charity supporting young children with special needs and their families across the Forest of Dean. We believe all children should be able to play, learn and develop, together in an environment that safe, supportive and comfortable.
The Forest of Dean Children’s Opportunity Centre provides services and support to children and their families who have a special need/disability aged from birth to 7 years living in the Forest of Dean. Services provided include: home visits, counselling, inclusive holiday playschemes, specialist support groups and fully integrated pre-school sessions. The Centre also provides workshops and sign posting to other services and parenting courses to ensure the whole family are supported and assisted in the best way possible.
Children are referred to us following a diagnosis of special needs before or after birth and we aim to give the child and family all the help they need to allow each child to develop to its absolute best, and move on to full time education when ready.
Special needs we support include, global development delay, autism, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, hearing, sight and communication issues, motor control issues as well as home issues such as domestic violence and poor living conditions.
