FANY (Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps)
The Corps was formed in 1907, to assist both civil and military authorities. The FANY is the oldest, most highly decorated, uniformed women’s organisation in the UK. It remains a voluntary organisation, based on principles of duty and integrity, self-discipline and collaboration. Always on call, FANYs are resourceful and unique women, who come from all walks of life, and are united in their aim to be of service in whatever capacity is asked of them.
The Corps is especially proud of its long association with the City of London, with trained members who are on call, 24 hours a day, to the City of London Police Casualty Bureau in times of major emergencies. Members of the Corps are volunteers, giving not only their time, but also contributing financially.
Challenging situations and opportunities are tackled with the same enthusiasm and determination as shown by the brave women who founded the Corps and who served throughout the First and Second World Wars.
